Abstract

Aim: Obstetrics and gynecology nursing is an important field of science dealing with women's sexual and reproductive health. With this study, it is aimed to make a bibliometric analysis of articles on "obstetrics - gynecology" in the field of nursing.

Materials-Methods: Within the scope of the research, the Web of Science Core Collection database was analyzed with the Bibliometrix program.

Results: It was found that 3422 articles were published in 666 journals between 1980-2022. The annual growth rate of the articles is 15.06%, and the average citations per article is 18.83. A total of 12089 researchers took part in the articles, 170 of which were single-authored. The United States, China and Australia are the top three countries in terms of broadcast numbers. Turkey is in the sixth place. Chih-Ping Chen, Peng-Hui Wang, and Wen-Hsun Chang from Taiwan National Yang-Ming University are the most influential researchers in this field for their publications and citations. Taiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, JOGNN-Journal of Obstetrics Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing, and BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth are the three most influential journals. The study titled “Perinatal and maternal outcomes by planned place of birth for healthy women with low risk pregnancies: the Birthplace in England national prospective cohort study” published in BMJ Brit Med J in 2011 by Peter Brocklehurst is the most influential research.

Conclusion: In the Web of Science Core Collection database, articles titled "Obstetrics - Gynecology" in the field of nursing have been comprehensively examined bibliometrically and information that is believed to be beneficial to researchers in this field has been revealed. Being the first bibliometric research on this subject in the field of nursing makes the study unique.
